    Dave,

I've noticed a bunch of variance. My first 99 RT was optimistic by at least 10%. My current 99 RT (yeah, I'm a fool for the 99) is only off by about 3-5% depending on speed. ...

Try Autozone. I use a $10 digital indoor/outdoor unit velcro-mounted on the dash under the RID. I zip tie the outdoor sensor under the nose faring somewhere.

    Morning,

I just replaced my seals on my 99 RT. It's really simple - you don't even have to remove the front wheel. You could, in a pinch even do it with the tupperware on.

    I used ATF fluid...

    Lee,

Thanks for the picture. I'll put them back in a) if I hear rattling where I shouldn't or b) next filter change.

Rubber protectors in fuel tank? K75

I was changing my fuel filter in the k75s and came across these protectors/bumpers in the bottom of the tank. The short one is about 3" long and the long is about 4". Each has a groove down the...

7k for a 20 year old bike seems high to me, but haven't seen it.

I recently bought a 92 k75s with 48k miles for 2800. Extras were: Staintune exhaust (original exhaust included),Progressive rear...

    Rich,

For myself and my 99 RT, I just keep an eye on the sight glass and change the oil when it starts to look 'grungy'. That's a technical term, mind you.

As a result, the mileage or...

I get some vibration in the bars over 4500 on accel, but I just thought that's the way it is. I generally cruise at around 4500-4800 in 5th gear, which is butter on my bike.

    And yup, I get a...

I'm currently at 111,700. It had 83,000 on it when I bought it and shifted just like it does now.

Just keep doing the recommended maintenance and ride the hell out of it.

    Box,

One of the things I learned early on with my 99 RT was that they are 'clunky' shifters. For a while, I thought the tranny was going to fall apart because it made so much noise between gears....

    Rob -

I'll check it out. Both of my Montana trips involved 700+ mile days, so I'm comfortable doing long mileage.

Hard to make out, but the screen reads 643 mi. in 11:14. Easy to do 1000...

I recently moved from the California's SF Bay Area to Long Island, NY. As noted in my profile, I'm involuntarily semi-retired (i.e. laid off and looking). The reason for the move: my...
