134,000 miles on my '99 r1100s.
You might have more faith in Service Techs than I do.
No offense intended.
You may be onto something with that recall information.
My issues seem to have been involved with the Crankshaft pulley and the Hall Effect sensor gate.
The "gate" and the pulley need to be glued together with Loctite 380.
I replaced the gate,...
Could you list off some things you've replaced? Maybe together we can beat it.
Cool. I'll button it back up and replace that filter. I'll also check the lines.
I knew about the stick coils, and meant to erase that.
I did post over there awhile back, and am trying to gather a few more opinions before spending dough.
I'd like to get past this...
I recently replaced the TB o rings, and the intake manifold boots on both sides just to rule out any leaks.
134,xxx miles, 1999 r1100s.
Yep. That's the learning curve!
Custom mount fitted into the screw holes that were no longer necessary after using the bar backs.
Even though the OP is most likely gone, as the original post is two years old.
As has been stated already- IMO it's most likely the starter. I had the same issue. If you do purchase a new one, check Beemer Boneyard for new starters. I got a great deal, and swapping it only...
I'm interested in making the switch from incandescent to LED bulbs in my instrument panel- do you have any sources or information?
Got it! Loose ground connection to the battery. Boy do I feel sheepish! Thanks to everyone! Also the random BMW riders who left a page from the anon book on my bike overnight.
I'm going to shoot a short video that I can email to anyone who thinks they might be able to notice anything. Just pm me here. I may not send it until the am, but I will send it. Thanks!
Thanks for the suggestions, seems as though the intermittent part may instead be moving the bars. Seems if I move the bars to the right, things light up, but still no start. Otherwise, I turn the key...
On our way to the rally, in Grand Island. After 500 trouble free miles, parked in front of the motel, booked room and the bike won't start.
99 r1100s 126,000 miles.
They're all with me...
I have nothing to add- except that I really, really like the ST, and feel it's the true descendant of my r1100s.
Hope to acquire one someday. Didn't know about the 07's either.
My r1100s has over 126,000 miles. I'm not bothered by mileage on BMW's, maintenance is everything. I will always look for higher mileage examples to save a bit more cash. Typically, I would think...
Stock seats are always junk. :)
My 1999 r1100s has over 126,000 miles with no FD issues.
Don't sweat it.
Just ride with a cell phone.
I'd be up for a TB sync, valve adjustment, clutch bleed- but do not have a twinmax or bleed kit.
Other fluid changes could be done without additional tools.
Very few complaints for me so far...
Congratulations on your new bike.
Working off a reminder email I received- I also can't buy tickets or renew membership. I know I really waited until the last minute on this, but nevertheless it's still aggrivating.
As has said already...
I recently replaced the stockers on my r1100s with wilbers- only because I found a killer deal on a used set from a rider the same weight as me.
I would go back and by...
Yeah- that's pretty much it!
