    They all do it (?)

I think you'll find quite a few RT owners have seen the front tire wear you speak of. Commonly refered to as "cupping". When I bought my (used) '02, the original front Bridgestone had severe cupping...

Concerned? I know I was when I saw higher than normal RID readings one day, under similar conditions. That's when I decided to install the RTP oil cooler fan. It works!

    Not too hot for me!

Here in the "Hinterlands of Canada", I really appreciate that #2 setting. :thumb

I suppose if you were handy with electrical issues, it would be e-z to install a series, high-wattage resistor (of...

I had a quick look...the hard-core crowd at advrider would probably recommend I put knobbies on the RT....

    Baja Mexico anyone?

Over on the oilhead forum, there seems to be a bit of interest from members wishing to ride to Baja, Mexico.

As I'm definitely among them, I thought I'd start a thread here to pick up ideas from...

    Baja? The RT says: Si!

Sorry to hi-jack this thread, but I'm pumped to do the Baja with my RT.

Luckily for me, I have some riding buddies who have been before.
They have offered to lead this gringo all the way to Cabo....

    Rich,

I think the '02 and later 1150's are good bikes. Some of the used 1100's I test rode were not very enjoyable.

My 2002 is still relatively new (and new to me) @ only 10k.
    The previously...

Like Steve, I installed the Wunderlich engine bars.

Compared to those (ugly?) plastic guards most people use, the W-bars look stock and will provide better protection in a tip-over.

There could be some issues with grounding, specifically, ground loops. Hard to figure out sometimes, but make sure all grounds are solid and preferably fastened to one point only.

    Also,...

I agree that the hum is likely tire related. My RT had a fairly worn front tire when I bought the bike (used). When I replaced it with a new one (had some tread!), I could hear a "hum" at certain...

    MPG Drop?

I've had my Techlusion R259 installed for a few thousand miles, and while there is a 2-3 mpg drop, it is an acceptable trade-off for me. When I want economy, I take Mrs. S' Toyota. :D

    New owners...

I'm a pretty good welder, and I could repair that part without a problem.

As useful as the stuff is, I'm not a fan of JB Weld for anything like that.
Take the bracket to a welder that can TIG weld aluminum, and have it fixed properly.

    Thumbs down for Sierra!

I have purchased several items (on-line) from Sierra BMW, and will never do so again.

But not because they took my money, and didn't come up with the goods.

    They all do it!
