    Thanks for the input

I run the charger directly to the battery, and will switch over the compressor leads to alligator so it can be used on both this and the /5.

Just wanted to better understand the results if I screw...

    2007 R1200GS - Electrical limit

I have a 2007 R1200GS. My understanding is that if I exceed the recommended limit of current drawn through the onboard accessory socket, the system will shut down the socket.

    If that happens, how...

    Thanks for Insurance comments

Thanks for all of your responses re my "collector bike" insurance solicitation. I'll look further into the restrictions, but doubt that they would match my riding.

    Turning off a 1200GS

From the bike's perspective, what's the difference in:

Flicking off the emergency on / off switch vs

Turning the ignition key to the off position.

    Is there a downside to...

    Battery Charger recommendation

I have a 12 volt Deltran Battery Tender, which I rotate around numerous vehicles that only receive sporadic attention. The charger works perfectly. If I needed a 6 volt version, I would certainly buy...

    Battery problem solved

Today, I met with Jay Reynolds, Service Manager at Wagner Motorsports, Worcester, MA, from whom I'd purchased the bike in April, 2008. He confirmed that the battery was NFG, with one cell deformed,...

    Battery Tender

Thanks for your comment and question about the aging Battery Tender.

It does have both a "charging" red indicator light and a "storage charging" green indicator, which is on most of the time.

I don't use the CanBus connection

Thanks for your observations. I don't use the CanBus socket; go directly to the terminals of the disconnected battery.

Where's that /5 kickstarter when I need it?

    R1200GS: Cooked my battery?

    :banghead

I have a 2007 1200 GS, purchased new in April 2008. It has been ridden infrequently during the past year. Knowing that I would not be able to ride it for a couple of months this Summer,...

"Should" you have any more questions about the proper use of these words, I'll send you an "invite" to my next grandma class. The dictionary changes, but proper usage doesn't.

    plug to plug impedance

Do I need to replace coils?

I have a '72 slash 5. Coils look original. Yellow spark, not blue. Is this likely a coil problem? How do I determine that a coil is working badly, but working?

    Thanks for your thoughts.
