    I think you're right...

Thanks for your note, kantuckid! No, I didn't ask too many questions in school. I could figure that stuff out. But I don't listen to music since there are far too many things to try to answer in...

Ridin' and the rally... tongue in cheek

    Meandering & Minnesota ? la deuxi?me partie

A thousand miles from Austin and still not to Minnesota, it was time to replace my OE tires. I had new ones (the two that had formed my backrest)...

    A plethora of places

I've been fortunate to see a fair bit of the world on two wheels over the past ten years. Some, but not all of my video records have been posted, so I thought I'd just put them all (so far) in one...

    Same page...

Jeff, I'd say we're still largely on the same page.

I avoid interstates (called motorways overseas) and large cities if possible. To me the real fun of road trips comes from riding two-lane...

    All of the above!

    Jeff,

We travel in much the same way.:laugh Like you, when I see another GS-er on the road and wave, I suspect he's similarly motivated.

I also play with a GoPro and photography and like to...

    2014 R1200GSW with Remus

For anyone who's interested, I wanted to share some information related to this weekend's farkle on my 2014 R1200GSW. I removed the BMW OEM exhaust silencer; it weighed 10.8lbs on my bathroom scale....

    Interesting question...

Jeff - I'm another who more often than not finds myself traveling solo. Circumstances, self-reliance, preferences, practicalities all play a part.

I have friends who have different traveling...
  8. OK, just ONE more...

This has to be my last note that's off topic or the moderator might ban me for life! I do have a bunch of home-grown videos from trips over the past few years. And I try to make them understandable...
  9. You want John Mellencamp...

    dieselyoda,

Well it's off topic, but I'm with you on Springsteen, Seger, and Mellencamp. I've pored over my iTunes files for something of theirs that fits when developing videos. With regard to...
  10. Thanks!

:beer I appreciate all of the encouraging comments re the track event, as well as on the video itself. Just a few comments and acknowledgements:

    - The GSW was great fun, but no way-no how could I...

    Thanks Marchyman

I do like the single use bottle. I guess its $10 cost is not too painful considering it's a $20k + motorcycle! I'll just go that way with the recommended gear oil and avoid the debate altogether.

    2014 1200gs

I have a bottle of BMW Motorrad Super Synthetic Gear Oil GL-5, 75W140, (in a beautiful red color!) that I used on my 2012 GS final drive. A quart lasts a long time.

    I now have a 2014 GSW that...
  13. Thanks Kurt

You wouldn't want to time it since the video is not in real time! Mirrors are taped over to avoid broken glass on the track in case of a spill. That means you don't see them coming - every time...
  14. Seriously?

TEHO - to each his own.

You can always find your speaker switch and put it in the off position.
  15. Circuit of the Americas From the Seat of My GSW

A friend and I headed out Saturday morning to one of the rare track days at Circuit of the Americas (so far, once per year). All the usual reasons: Just for fun; to experience the real,...

    Paean to the Panhandle

Normal disclaimer: No offense to anyone, living or dead; or who?s from, or who lives in, or who even knows anyone from or living in, the Panhandle of Texas. And this is a cultural exchange, not...

    My "is Mexico safe" question...

For anyone who cares to look back at the post that originated this thread, I meant for my question to be tongue-in-cheek. I had just returned from a ride to Copper Canyon. Really enjoyable. Hence...

This one was sighted in the showroom in Katy, TX, while on the road back to Austin. Decided the next day that it would be a suitable replacement for my wrecked 2012 GS Rallye. As I suspect...

    !Hola Senor Chuy!

Don Chuy, unfortunately that would not have been me. We took a fall trip, not the New Year's trip: Two Ducatis, two GS's, one Gold Wing, and one KLT. Here I am freezing in McAllen the morning of...
  24. Once in a lifetime ride - Paris to Baku

I was fortunate to live in Paris just before I retired a few years ago. Also fortunate to find a great second hand R1150GS at one of the BMW Motorrad dealers. ALSO fortunate to have time to travel...
