Thanks Bruce, I'll give that a try.
And thanks for all the opinions...it's nice to see things from another side.

Yeah...maybe the subjects need to be more tech orientated...I'll keep the rest for a campfire.
I was first censored when I started a topic asking what everyone thought about being an MOA member. Wondering if I should stay an MOA member or be an Airhead only. I posted it in the Airhead...
Anybody like it? I must be way out of line because I've been censored twice now. Didn't realize I was an outlaw... :usa
My GS has hand guards but I don't think they make any difference. They don't seem to keep any wind or rain off my hands. I love heated grips, but haven't tried heated gloves.
Uhhhh...I thought GS meant it was dirty all the time :laugh
Rbike, just to be clear, M.A.P. Eng only makes the bracket to relocate the stock caliper, they don't make a special caliper. Does any one know if other claipers can be fitted to an R100 dual rotor...
I'll be around most of the time...going to the Rockies game on Friday night...after ditching work on Friday of course, but that just means more time to split wood.
The R26 started this morning after a two second tickle and two kicks with the ignition off. Then only a couple of kicks with the ignition on and it it came to life. What a hoot to ride :dance I...
I had been thinking of dual discs on my PD...but ended up putting on a larger diameter rotor with a bracket to relocate the caliper made by M.A.P. Engineering. At the same time I added a braided...
Thanks for all the replys! I should get a carb kit in the mail this week and hope to try starting it for the first time this weekend.
What oil viscosity should this engine use?
I just got a 1959 R26 that appears to be in good condition. It was running 6 months ago but has been sitting without use since then. I'm gonna change the fuel and oil, and then I would like to try...
Two more things...
Building the $5 sychronizer is actually a differential guage. And because of the tubing lengths you need to be patient when making changes. It takes some time for the changes...
You can build your own carb synchronizer with a yard stick (or any stick), some clear vinyl tubing, a little electrical tape, and some automatic transmission fluid...all together shouldn't cost more...
Thanks for the insurance tip...but financing isn't part of the deal.
I thinking of going to look at a PD that has a salvage title. I can evaluate the bike to be sure of it's condition. I'm just wondering how much $$ is taken off the going rate because of a salvage...
I have a spare set of GS wheels with knobies on them in Ft Collins CO...we could work something out if you want to use them. Let me know.
I'm not sure what they are trying to sell you as "upgrade coils". I also don't know of any standard failure rates on the modern style your bike should already have. It should be a single coil with...
Thanks for all the input :thumb
I'm out of town again as usual and this was the first time I had a chance to come back and check on things.
I have been telling her she needs to take the...
My wife, Chicklet, just bought a used Buell Blast to get back into riding. She doesn't have much experience riding, probably only owned a bike for about a year over 15 years ago, and no training. I...
Why did I decide to schedule in 1100 miles of riding this weekend when I had to do was go south about 50 miles and drink till I drop? :drink
Oh yeah...it was the enticement that I'll be getting...
For drum brakes I always think about a song by Queen - Fat Bottom Girls Make the World Go Round. Now after typing that I don't know why it makes me remember that the biggest shoe goes in the back. ...
And I thought it was a bit cold this morning when I rode to work at 40F...least I don't need studded tires :)
Heck, A new gunfighter and a meal for only a few more dollars than a local upholstery shop quoted me to recover my dual canyon with vinyl. They wanted $175 and I think I would rather buy a new one...
I love old beemers because they are so easy to work on and very dependable even with a lot of miles...BUT to get me 5'3" wife riding we went with a Buell Blast. I also considered the Rebel but felt...
