    The upright seating position

is more comfortable, although if the suspension doesn't do it's job, any bumps go right up your spine.

The GS (can't speak for the MS) doesn't have as much wind coverage as a sport tourer,...

as loyal owners of the mark, many of us understand where you are coming from. I have held on to my older (IMHO) more reliable BMW's because i have no interest in the complexity of today's BMW's. ...

I Have to admit that when Max opened his first store

all i heard was raves from the BMW club that I am a member of. I thought that they had all been brain-washed. But after meeting the man, and frequenting his stores; I too am a convert.

    I miss my PD

in the worst way. I took it just about anywhere and everywhere. But for me, about a 600 mile day was my limit.
  8. I'm not sure why you're against

the U-Bolt mounts that attach to your handle bars. They are rock solid and don't vibrate. I would think that attaching to your hand guard would vibrate like crazy.

    Just my two cents
  9. I don't know if there are any legal reasons why we couldn't do it

but this sounds like a DAMNED fine idea!!! :hug

Are you sure about the weight figure?

I'm not saying that you are wrong... i'm just surprised.

Last year, I changed the rear shock on the R1150R/EZS rig. And in order to get the right spring, i had to have it weighed.... so i took it...

    Don't know about the 1200's

But i never shifted my R1150RT into 6th unless i was doing over 70MPH (not BMW mph). Otherwise i felt like i was lugging the motor

    YMMV

The GSA offers way better coverage for touring. However, being of slight stature, that huge gas tank and additional weight can come up and bite you in the butt without warning. The GS is much more...

  25. Late last fall

My VERY heavily loaded R1100GS was on it's side in a parking lot. I couldn't lift it upright using the butt to seat, backwards crawl method.
