  1. 05 R1200GS - rain caused the dash to temporarily fail

So I was riding back today with some pals from a 4 day trip, and we got caught in some rain. No big deal, we were prepared, and had in fact started the trip in rain. It was a little different this...

I took my windshield yesterday, and in the process the little grommet thing that the clamping bolt screws into fell out. I heard it make the tinking sounds, but I can't find it on the ground...

Well I think I've reached the limit of both my ability and equipment(Not ready to shell out for a GS-911 yet!) in trying to troubleshoot my heated grips. Time to go to a dealer. I'm near Lansing,...

Thanks for the links, I'll check them out. I don't have a local dealer, at least not one I consider local - the nearest is an hour away I think.
  10. Where should I buy basic stuff(oil filter for R1200GS)

Any recommendations for place to buy basic stuff, specifically I'm looking for oil filters at the moment, and probably the tool thing to get them off with.

I don't know if they were. I only got the bike just before end of the riding season here and I didn't really try the hand warmers then.

So also on the lower setting nothing seems to happen. So either the whole switch has failed or I've got a wiring issue?

Hmm well according to the manual, there are no fuses, so if there was one, it would have been added after the fact. I didn't see any obvious inline fuses at a cursor glance. I'll have to take the...

2005 R1200GS heated grips not working?

It's winter here where I am, so I can't ride, but I decided to test a suspicion. I started my bike up, and set the heated grips to the max setting and let it run that way for about 10 minutes. I...

  21. squealing from front brake at low speeds normal? 2005 R1200GS

The front brake of the R1200GS I have squeals as I slow down, at say, < 15mph. Is that normal? I checked the pads and they look like they have plenty of wear left in them.

    Thanks!

    Deed is done!
Picked up my 2005 R1200GS today. And, thanks to Michigan, I've already ridden it in 30-40 mph wind bringing it home, and rain on my first run to the store with it. Luggage rules!

    VIN lookup site?

    Hello!

I'm looking at buying a used bike, does anyone have a recommendation on a site to use to do VIN lookups for motorcycles? So far I've found one, it was 50$ for 3 VINs.

    Thank you!
