On my '07GSA the BMW CD shows the drive shaft being levered rearward past the c-clip and off the trans shaft [prying toward rear or FD]; of course the FD is dropped and FD spline is out of drive...

  4. Fd...

First Moly assemble lube is not the problem; concensus is that the OEM moly will persist for a few lube changes, many add 10% moly back into FD refills...

And when the "sealed for life" FDs...

But You Are Not Stranded With A Broken Chain

I might be stating the obvious...but a failure of the FD on the road or anywhere is not a "roadside repair" ...you are stranded and need a tow..

A broken chain can be repaired by the rider on the...

    Rumor..

I heard that the width was less than 1" wider...but that was a WAG...but you are correct about any widening IF the concern is off road...but with an on road emphasis it would not matter..

    True..

Gentleman that made the observation concerning BMWs shift to making the GS more pavement/touring oriented is a BMW tour guide from Italy and a very knowledgable person...

Are GS Adventure Models Part Of This Recall?

To clarify it is corrosion of the controller that is driving this recall..which in turn stops the fuel pump..

BUT again....are the Adventure bikes suffering this same corrosion?
