My 94 K1100RS is a resurrection project and before I get carried away like I did with my K75S, I'm trying to figure out how expensive this thing will be to repair.

The clutch is hooped, oh well,...

If the problem reappears, start with making sure you have no resistance between the battery and ignition power at the fuse contacts. Then...

If the blue smoke is much more noticeable at start, idle then on sudden deceleration, I would likely think valve stem seals first. You can replace them without pulling the head but you need the tools...

Parking lot time, some neighbourhood rides, a couple of milkshake runs, and then today happened.

For some perspective, my lovely lady rides a 440CC antique Kawasaki. We are talking carbeurated,...

    I'm digging the bells.

I don't really care if it's a HD thing. I am going to get a bunch and give to all my friends that ride.

That is a neat little urban legend.

Not sure about the comments about low idle casuing engine bearing issues.

The BBS only controls IDLE mixture so you don't need any special tools to set an idle you like. Keeping them clean is a very good recommendation.

As to my preference for idle, it's my preference...

Tight always works for me. The engineers at BMW aren't so brite as to re-invent torque tables. I can't think in metric but a 1/4" thread is around 12 ft lbs of torque and 5/16" is around 20 ft lbs...
