"Nevada Rides"

My wife and I just got back from a week in Vegas. Will not go back - too much smoke and very crowded.
We stopped at a visitor center when returning from a day trip to Utah and they had displayed a small booklet titled "Nevada Rides", motorcycle guide. It was produced by Nevada Magazine.
It had many ads but also suggested day trips through many of the parks and counties. It looked like a great guide for visitors biking through the state.
Do any other states put out these type of brochures? If not, maybe they should.

Johnson City, TN does produce a brochure of rides in TN, VA and NC selling the city as the base from which you can start each ride. One of the main reasons they invested in this was the economic impact of the BMWMOA's International Rally in 2009 held in Gray, TN. You can request a brochure by visiting southerndozen.com.

It was available at m/c dealers last year. I haven't looked recently, but suspect they might still be available, or at least available from CDOT.

Sorry you did not enjoy your stay in Las Vegas. Yes, the Strip can get crowded and smokey -- One of the reasons that many locals seldom head down there. But honesty, isn't it what you expected?

There are some absolutely fantastic day rides out of Vegas including Hoover Dam, Jerome AZ, Death Valley, Valley of Fire, Lake Mead, Mt. Charleston, Kelso, Ca, Nipton, Ca, and on and on. We even do day trips to Palm Springs, Joshua Tree National Park, etc. The ability to ride year round to these and many more great destinations is why some of us located here.

We would welcome you back but next time, fire off a post, let us know you are coming and we will help you plan, including places to stay off the strip that are neither smokey nor crowded. (and no I do not work for the Chamber or Tourism Board)

Try Google. Searching 'arizona motorcycle rides', for example, gives lots of good ideas. I'm sure you could try it for other states as well.

Arkansas has ride pamphlets.

Nova Scotia has an annual free motorcycle guide the size of the Anonymous Book. Available free from the provincial tourism website.

Google the name of any state or province + "tourism" and you'll get the official website. Several have motorcycle-specific publications.

What's the story on the "smoke"? Is this smog, or smoke inside the casinos? I hadn't noticed any on our last visit.

Try Butler Motorcycle Maps.
They are for motorcycles.
The state is for tourists, not motorcycles.
So their stuff is all 'touristy'.
I just had another ride thru' Nevada, last Friday, coming in from Susanville to Reno.
Yes, Reno, well. I got lost horribly so didn't get out of there til after dark.
Then into Fallon for the night.
Then down 95 on Saturday to Beatty.
On Sunday, Beatty, to Death Valley Junction, over to Pahrump, then back to Shoshone and down to Los Angeles.
Nevada is mostly wide open, straight, boring, long roads. But scenic.

Agree, most of the casinos have pretty good ventalition systems. Someone sitting next to you smokeing is still going to get you.
