Auctions America is auctioning off one of the few examples of the Harley XA in Auburn IN on Dec 8th. Not sure if this link will work, but here goes: http://www.auctionsamerica.com/events/feature-lots.cfm?SaleCode=MM12&ID=r1031&Order=runorder&feature=grouping=
There are several other German motorcycles at this same auction. All items are from WW 2, from the History Museum.
Thought you might want to know.
These are pretty rare bikes and this one looks fairly complete & original. it will be interesting to see what it actually sells for.
Would love to have one but too rich for my blood
My Dad, who was a motor-pool Master Sargent in ww-ll said that, that was the best Harley, Harley ever built. He said that since we won the war, and German industry was kaput,..he was surprised H/D didn't capitalize on it , and build them for the masses?.
As said,..I'd like to have one , but too $$ for me.
I'm told, that near hear, there is a guy that built a replica , mating an older H/D frame with a 900 Airhead?...I've never seen it.
Nice. But what's Auburn, Indiana especially well known for. . .. [wink, wink, nod, nod....]

Yes indeed. He saw we were on BMWs, and said you need to ride my XA. He already had it out, so he fired it up for me. What a wonderful day.

We had a local auctioneer who was doing this. Right now he is in jail serving 5 years.
Auburn and Dusenberg cars and said museum! Buncha thread-jackers.... Speaking of auctions...anyone go to Grayboy Auction over the weekend?

Dale is one of the most generous people I know with his time and knowledge. I loved riding it around the property too. His son had the Harley sidecar racer out and took the son of one of our group for a hellacious ride. The kid had a face wide grin when Dale's son put it on two wheels.
There was an XA for sale in the Owners News back around 2005. I was too late.
Seems like Dale will let just about anyone ride his 007 XA. He has like 5 or more in his Motorcycles Thru Time Museum;
Even my Brother:
