How Many GS's?

On page 90 of the November Owners' News, Guy Timmerman says "With over 170,000 GS bikes sold in 30 years..."

This seems like a low-ball number ... Anybody know the actuals?

5666 a year doesn't sound low ball.

BMW are rare bikes.

500,000 (half a million) produced as of May 2009.... It was a big news event at the time.
