But, I do have to say that along with my RT, I picked up a F650GS and it's a hoot to ride. I have taken it on some 400 mile days and I can only think that engine in a F800 chassis with it's USD forks and belt drive would make a good platform.
The R1200RT (as good as it is) is still a 100 lbs plus heavier than my F650 is (or my old R100T was) and for the type of roads I tour on, and at my age, that 100 lbs shows in my bike handling at the end of a hard day.
The GT looks to be close but no cigar. There will be a huge aftermarket thriving on selling what it takes to convert it to an "RT".
