Pushed the R90S outside this morning, not all together yet, ran it to center the trans, old Honda fender looks OK, had to use it because of the Kenda 100/90 front tire, a few scratches, matches the bike, double front lower yoke went on OK with the eleven rib gaiters.
A little more sorting out and off on a trial spin.
I remember having a problem on my brother's R75/6 when we put some metric tires on. I just removed the stamped fender brace/mount and skeletonised it with a plasma cutter. I wish I had a picture of it. It looked stock and the front tire cleared with no problem.
I marked off the steel brace and almost started drilling, but it looks so cool I figgered I keep it and get a 90/90 front tire next time. Here's another pic, note my new lawn and garden battery with 365 cranking amps at 32 F. Still have to assemble some of the last items including a ninety degree petcock from Huckys so I can git that darn dipstick out a little easier.

lloks real good, except Id make the fork brace black, not orange
Oh about 1989 I picked that up from the flea market, came in red, its a San Jose piece, I think, hoops aren't connected, it's such a nice paint job, I just left it.
I agree, paint it. Also, it does not look like my San Jose brace. Nice bike too, love to see the progress. Thanks.

I like your bike. I did not see that this thread is a poll on the color of the fork brace, but my $0.02 is paint it. Orange, being one of the brightest colors really attracts the eye. As no other parts on your bike are orange the brace and chrome fender become the focal point of the machine. If this is the intent of the restoration, then it succeeds.
They actually match the red on the 90 engine cover. Lots of stuff changed on this bike since I got it in '87. I've never seen another set of separate red hoops and now on a chrome fender the bike is starting to look more retro.
There's always something to do, first gotta check out the fork mods and see if it goes into a tank slapper. Dual bottom yoke was first seen in Dec. '83 News on "Old Number 83" and next time in March '08 News on a 750. I had an extra laying around, so this winter the forks came apart. Haven't tried to put fairing on, may have drop the lower yoke to get it on.
With inch between the two, the bottom yoke is almost four inches thick.
Got the twisted petcock installed, makes alot of nice room for the dipstick, the timing plug and the gas filter, if you're interested.
The second bottom yoke just pokes out under the fairing, had to drop the yoke to install the fairing, just clears with 26 mm between the two. Waiting for mufflers to get back from the welder. Thought, why not patch'em up considering what new ones cost..green mufflers!, who'da thunk it? Also added San Jose bottoming springs, seems not likely the sliders will touch the lower yoke.

I like how the dipstick handle has been drilled...that'll improve airflow and reduce the sprung mass of the bike... :hide :bolt
Great pictures, that is a sharp looking ride.
But what is the cylinder with the wires just to the upper left of your oil dipstick? I can't figure out if its some emission thing....:scratch
