Planning Ahead - NYC

I planning a trip to the east coast from California. Originally, I was not going to visit New York City but one of the couples riding with us really wants to spend about three days seeing the city. I've been there before but always on business flying in and out. I'm looking for suggestions and ideas on how best to approach this with motorcycles. In my research I've seen riders stay outside the city and take tourbuses or the train into the city leaving the bikes at lodging in the suburbs. I've also read it's might be better to find a hotel in the city and park it with the cost of parking offsetting the time savings of not commuting. Any suggestions other than these or for specific places to places to stay in or out of the city plus proposed itineraries for the three days would be greatly appreciated.

i am in Westchester Co., which is just north of NYC. your more then welcome to leave the bikes at my house and take the train into the city (i'm 5 min from the station, less then an hour to Grand Central Station via express train) get yourself a room and spend a few days walking around the city. when your done sight seeing take the train back to my local station where i will pick you up and return you to my house and your bikes. i'll even show you some nice roads to ride in my area. George's offer is extremely generous. However, if the four of you do opt to take a hotel directly in the city (i.e. here in Manhattan), you can securely and safely park your bikes at [URL="http://risingwolfgarage.com/"]Rising Wolf Garage[/URL], a dedicated Motorcycle-only-moto-friendly garage down in Greenwich Village. Three days is not a great deal of time to tour this place, but it's sufficient to see the basics, and if your hotel is here, then you can spend a bit more time coming and going and not having to worry about commuting in and out of the city at day's start and end. Just a thought.

We do like the idea of leaving the bikes in a secure location and staying in the city to maximize our limited time there. It is really quite a nice offer and one of the reasons we hang out at MOA!

Next thing is, where to stay in the city? Any suggestions on accomodations in the city or a centralized geographic area?

You guys are great! :thumb[/QUOTE]Bob, PM Josh Metzger (jdmetzger) one of our mods. He recently came to town in January for the Big Gig and did some research on hotels, resulting in a place in the midtown-north-times square district, which I think he was very satisfied with.

If you contact Michael and Nuri at Rising Wolf, be sure to tell them that you're with the BMW MOA (their business and facility was featured in an article in the Owners News about 10 years ago and they're extremely nice, friendly folks!).
