So on the way home this afternoon I pulled up to a stop and noticed that the gear shift lever was "lower than normal" and getting into first was not an immediate thing. Pulling over I took a look and the lever was definitely droopy, like the return spring :dunno was not doing that whole return thing. Seeing as it was functional and figuring maybe just a little grease was needed I headed home.

After dinner I headed back into the garage to take a closer look...

:scratch

Is this what supposed to happen to a 2-year old motorcycle with less than 36,000 miles on it

Shift lever up.

Guess there's nothing to do but hope that extended warranty was worth it

Your factory warranty should cover it. 3 years 36,000 miles.

Same thing happened to my wifes ST, after she talked to BMW they replaced the rear frame section.

You're right!
:bow

At 35,818 I be under
:clap

For some reason I thought I was over and trying to figure out how to convince the extended warrantee-or that that part of the frame wasn't part of the frame (not covered)
- but actually a transmission mount (covered).

Just curious - what is the logo just to the right? Looks like MWK...

The towing company sent by BMW RoadSide Assistance dispatched the flat bed (they have two), without the motorcycle accessory.
Something about something called a 1200RT must be a roadster.

:banghead

Guess we'll try again Tuesday...

There wouldn't be anyone traveling south through Bellingham tomorrow headed to Seattle would there?

With a little extra room?
