View Full Version : Disconnecting the accessory socket

On the R1200RT there is an accessory socket on the left side, upper fairing panel. It looks like this socket will have to be disconnected to permit removal of the fairing panel. Is there a plug somewhere for this, or does the socket have to be removed from the panel? I may have missed something obvious here, but I could not see an easy way to unplug the socket.

If it's like my R1200ST, there's a locking tab you can squeeze to release a plug at the end of the wires from the outlet. If it's dirty, it might be pretty stiff.

On the newest bikes, the (somewhat smaller than previous) plug has a little tab that has to be lifted by a small blade carefully.

Thanks for the tips. I will take a closer look for the locking tabs.
