Is it just me or does the Black R1200R with the white pinstripes get anyone else excited? Damn that bike is sexy! It screams; I AM BMW MOTARRAD! It must be the pinstripes, pertruding cylinders, and when she flashes you a glimpse of her front suspension....She is quite the shapley girl.

Don't get me wrong, I love my GS but that's a fine looking machine. I havn't tested one, but she really looks like a bike you could throw around?

Man, I'll tell ya what, a flat black paint job with white pinstripes would send me over the edge! I better go take a cold shower.

Black with white coach lines, it just screams BMW. Just like my '74 R90/6. Cool.

Do you have a photo? We would love to see her.

At the shop yesterday, I stood with the sales manager studying that beautiful black/pinstriped machine with lust in my heart.

I talked to Hannigan about a fairing for it last week - they offer an exact color match (no pinstriping). One of the claims for the wind-tunnel tested fairing is that it exerts several pounds (14 if I recall) on the front wheel at highway speed.

I'm beginning to feel the "crazy" coming on for this bike; enough to consider selling the farm.

Ditto. Here I am yesterday in the snow that was falling in central Pennsylvania. I love naked, but really gotta get a windscreen that fends off those flakes!

When I was looking at the two my dealer had I first going to buy the Crystal Grey Metalic. The more I looked and after half a dozen trips back to the dealer I changed my mind.

Oh, man. I hate to tell you this guys. That "pinstriping" on the black R1200R just doesn't make it. It looks like a tape job with 3/4" white electrical tape from Home Depot. I have a '75 90S with the twin pinstripes and that is the standard. Maybe the R's with the pinstripes look better in person. I deliberately opted for an all black R when I ordered it.

My tape came from the Dollar General!;) :bolt

I feel the pin-striping is an improvement on the solid black, but can understand your criticism, and am interested in how you might correct or improve it.

Could you run the photo through Photoshop (or other grapic sw) and demonstrate your design? Would you add your pin-strip to the fender?

The Hannigan fairing I'm interested in does not have a pin-stripe option. To do the entire job as you might conceive it could cost an additional $1K if done by a pro.

Anyway, the wide stripes are a retro adaptation of earlier Beemers, decades before the '75 was on the drawing board.

I'm a "leg" man and that reference to the legs of the R1200R just kinda clicked with me. And legs in black ny......well, you get the idea, gggrrrroooowwlll.

No recent BMW has turned my crank like the latest R1200R. Which partially explains why I'm still thoroughly enjoying my 94 R1100RS and 13 years of riding. To me, it just looks "right" pinstripes or tapestripes, whatever.
