FWIW -

Have found that BMW's black rubber shifter boot lever leaves black "skid marks" on your footware. The Dealer offers a "slip-on" cover for a little more than $15.

My solution is to use aluminium speed/muffler tape. The width is a perfect fit and conforms to the peg's contours, nicely. At first glance, it has the same finish as the frame.

I like the mark on my shoes, it's sort of like having dog nose prints on your car windows...maybe a status symbol?

If you get the 3/4" (or so) heat shrink tubing at your hardware store it slips on, shrinks to fit, looks OEM, and doesn't leave black marks - at least it doesn't on Voni's red boots.

My black boots shouldn't be affected by it- the left boot has so much oil soaked into it from riding an airhead that the shifter-rubber should never be able to rub off onto it! :D

OME shifter rub-off/build-up tends to make the top of my left flip-flop feel slippery, when riding.
