Recent cold rain, and a slight failure of my waterproof glves has made me think about handguards for my 85 k100rs. I found these (http://ascycles.com/detail.aspx?ID=1592), but the look kinda funny, and I am wondering if anyone has them, or something else that works well.
Thanks in advance :brad

I have 1100GS handguards for my 1100RS that I put on in the fall and take off after it warms up. I had to modify them slightly, but they work great. They were about the same price.

Those U were looking at A&S are probaly as good as anything U will find. Hand guards are not going to win any beauty contests. There function is their beauty. I have a 94 R1100RS, and I use 95 R1100GS handguards. They are a simple bolt on and work great. I run mine yearround. I've had all kinds of debris and small critters hit the back side of my hands, hurt like heck. Hand guards put a stop to that.

I was looking at these once. They are more expensive, but they come in colors to match your paint.

And they look cooler too, but;
Mounts to the handlebar by cutting off the end of each grip and the throttle tube to install bar inserts
I have throttlemeisters and heated grips. I don't think these will install.

Have you tried modifying a GS guard for your application? Spend some time measuring your bike. Then look at a GS with guards and see if it would work. I have an acquaintance who adapted GS guards for use on a Honda GL1000 Goldwing with a bit of effort.
Spend some time in a dirt bike shop, check out Acerbis.com. Here are a couple of links to Touratech-USA and their hand guards and spoilers. Spend some time looking at the pictures and see how you could fabricate a solution for your bike.

I have fabricated hand protectors for road bikes in the past from metal strap, a motocross hand protector that I used as a spoiler, and some additional mounting hardware. It took some time to come up with a design that worked and looked acceptable but as fabrication projects go it was not that difficult. It was a homemade solution similar to the Touratech solution in the final link.
I use GS hand guards all of the time on my Roadster and love them. They go a long way to solving the problems you describe.
Let us know what your final solution is and good luck to you.
