We had an eventfull evening the other night. Grandchild #8 made her appearance rather late and we were headed home frm the hospital on the scooter. About the time we passed got well past the last signal on a 2 lane road the bike just quit. It was very sudden, no warning and nothing I did would get it to fire up. Of course it was about 1:30 AM, at least it wasn't raining! :)

We pushed it the remaining mile to the trailer and sacked out. The next day I started at the obvious, fuses and fuel level. Then I pulled the gas cap off and looked inside to see if a hose seperated. I also checked to see if I could hear the pump. No pump noise. Uh oh I've already replaced it twice now and they are not cheap. I pulled the filter out and checked for blockages. No dice there so I figured I better pull the pump. When I grabbed it I was stabbed by something rather sharp. I looked again and saw one of the wires had broken at the crimp on connector. After pulling the pump I replaced both crimp on connectors and the pump ran fine, bike back on the road. It's kind of amazing as I would have expected this to create a spark when it seperated and it was above the fuel level. EEEK!! scary thought!

Nothing else looked amiss other than I fould a cream colored hard plastic tube about 8" long and 1/4" inside diameter in the tank. It was very new to me as I didn't recall seeing anything like that before. Anyone have any idea what the heck that this is from??? It isn't part of the gas float mechanism and the level indicator is functiojning normally.
