Okay, after 1000 miles of pretty spirited riding, I can feel a bit of off-idle stumble coming on. When it's fully warmed up and I just start to crack the throttle, it stumbles momentarily then picks up. It's been a while since I've toyed with carbs so refresh my rusty memory...Is it going slightly rich just off idle? Do I need to turn down the mixture a tad? I'm guessing it's mixture and not carb synchronization at this point.

My long distance guess is the opposite of yours. The mixture settings don't usually change much once set, if it was running well 1000 miles ago and now after "spirited riding" it's a bit off, I'd suspect the carbs just need a bit of synching up. Cables can stretch and some times the little nuts that secure the freeplay get loose. A whole bunch of folks swear by the TwinMax carb synching tool for newer bikes, older bikes can use the "two old spokes and a couple of screwdrivers method"
