I had two good rides this weekend. I logged nearly 800 miles in three days and am enjoying my 1998 R1100R.

The first trip is from Covington LA to Monticello MS driving the very curvy MS 587. The trip is pretty plain getting from Covington to Franklinton LA and then a couple of long stretches to MS. Be aware that they are paving the MS side of the HWY which changes from 25 in LA to 27. The crews seem to be working quickly but it was one lane with stopped traffic just before Tylertown MS. The ride from Foxworth at 98 to Monticello on 587 has numerous turns and curves from 15 mph to 50 mph. I passed a few large groups on Sunday on various machines. Clearly the local law enforcers see this as a revenue maker as two patrol units were seen in the area issuing citations.

There are two spots where there are hazards on the curves, one about 6 miles in where there are sticks in the road and another about 7 miles in where there is gravel on the road. Other than that, it's 29 miles or so of very twist road. Jay's restaraunt serves decent coffee once in Monticello.

Also, Hwy 10 from Franklinton to points west is a road I read about somewhere on the net. It is a very nice drive to Jackson, LA where there are some civil war sites and other scenic parks. I tookt he trip and drove until I ran out of gas, nearly 200 miles on this scenic hwy. I was wishing I had left my windscreen on since my total mileage for the day was near 400 and it got old fighting the wind on I-12 coming home.

Those are my ride reports,
