I just did something that maybe I shouldn't have. :doh
Purchase a used Wunderlich low seat for my 02, 1150RT. The guys at the beemer bone yard tempted me.... Can any of you make me feel warm & fuzzy about it or did I do something foolish?
I've put 52,000 miles on the bike with some pain but a bunch of fun.
:dunno

It could be that when you get the seat on the bike you will wonder how you ever rode without it :heart then again you might think the boneyard is a good place for the seat, only time will tell and there is always resale!

Tracey:
You've had some pain with your stock seat, so it isn't working for you, and it doesn't for a lot of owners. An aftermarket seat purchase is one of the most expensive experiments for any rider, and if you can get a used one, the cost of your experiment has been reduced slightly. And if it doesn't work, there is always the option of selling to the next rider who is experimenting, like Red Beemer says.

With the low seat you could also have a little wiggle room to put an airhawk cushion on top of it without making it too high. Then you may be really satisfied. Just a thought.

You'll love it! What's not to like? Wunderlich makes wonderful products and almost anything is better than the stock seat.

Give us a product report when you put 1k on it. :blah

Thanks, I feel better already...
The bone yard sent me a picture today and it looks like the right thing to do. I will report after my spring trip to Deals Gap and beyond...

I think you did the right thing. My thinking is two fold... First, look how many beemers are out there with stock seat? Any beemer with any miles 95% has an aftermarket seat. Two, you now have two seats... if you don't like the Wunderlich you can always that either the Wunderlich or the stock seat to a local upholestry shop and have it re-worked to your liking... this is usually cheaper than you think... My food for thought anyway....... :eat :drink

I've tested the Wunderlich seat with a bunch of local miles and a 1,500 mile trip.
I've got to say it's much better than the "comfort" seat. Not as good as a Russell I once had on a Guzzi but.. pretty darn good.
I can honestly suggest this seat to others...
I'm 5'9" and the Wunderlich low works for me...
