I did a search here on hall effect sensors and read most of what came up. I am thinking my '98 RT may be in need of replacing its sensors at just over 75K miles. Does anyone have some clear pictures & directions. A couple of the links in the search helped some but I could use some clear pictures and detailed instructions, possibly links to getting them directly from electronics supplier rather than paying BMW's exhorbitant costs. And most of the stuff on the search seemed geared more to airheads than oilheads. I don't have a shop manual but this may be the thing that justifies a purchase. Any recommendations on which one is best? Also, Ive been wrenching my own bikes since 1968 so can handle a fair amount of difficulty as long as it doesn't require special tools and/or electronic monitoring equipment.
Thanks in advance

Dana Hager wrote a good illustrated piece on this.

Thanks Paul, I sort of had a hunch you might be one of the first to chime in here. I did a quick scan throught the PDF doc :deal ; looks like exactly what I needed. Now just have to do a little more testing/diagnosing to make sure that is the problem (according to the file in the link) and go from there.

Don't bother replacing the sensors unless you plan on replacing the wires in the Hall Sensor harness at the same time. Here is a link where you can source the wire needed: http://www.ba-electronics.com/nte-wire.htm#wt
I used the WT series high temp wire in 22ga. They can order the correct colors too.
