I'm planning a four corners tour that will depart Key West in late May. I would like some company. Anyone interested?

Four corners will be very nice in May. I can't imagine coming from FL to the four corners. What a mind blower! Enjoy in moderation.

I think he means the four corners of the lower 48, not the four corners of CO, NM, AZ and UT.

sounds interesting. How long were you planning? Camping or cheap motels or combination of both?

I plan on using Motel 6 or equivalent. Not opposed to camping but I hate to lug all the gear. I also plan to start in key West, then Maine, then San Ysidro and ending in Washington. This I think, avoids the still cold NW mountains and allows a cooler transit of the SW. Key West to Blaine this way is about 7700 miles. I figure 14-18 days, mas o menos.

My wife will fly out and meet me in Blaine. We'll do a leisurely tour of California and points east, arriving in Vermont in time for the Rally.

Anyone interested in doing one leg or all, please let me know. Info on the tour can be found at [URL=www.usa4corners.org]. Lots of interesting reading from earlier participants.

I plan to leave montreal & cross into the US at the Soo to be in Minneapolis May 20 for a few days(daughter's grad) on to Ca for a wk of riding then back to montreal by mid June.Your post sounded appealing. It may still be possible to hook-up along the way. Will read about 4corners.

Lake Carmi and Essex Jct close by and I am quite familiar with main roads in the area if you ever need info. You may even care to visit Montreal.

Anyone reading this thread and familiar with backroads leading to Minneapolis via Sault Ste Marie & Upper Peninsula, feel free to advise.

Maybe we can meet although I'll be heading to San Ysidro through Indianapolis and Oklahoma City

I've done the north shore of Lake Superior a few times. I might offer an alternative. Try the Bruce Pennesula up to Tobermory. Take the ferry to Beymouth. Kind of fun! Also, In the UP of Michigan, if you have the time , go up to Copper Harbor. Nice ride!

I'm sure that someone can give you a better route but I have gone across wisconsin on US 8 or hwy 70 to get to sault st marie from Minneapolis and either one works pretty well, 70 has less traffic than US 8. US 8 will put you closer to Mpls with ~40 miles less slab time on Interstate 35.

from Sault you can get to US 2 connect with either US 8 or Hwy 70, connect with Interstate 35 and head into Minneapolis.

my garmin mapsource shows

Sault St Marie to Minneapolis 575 mi 12:45: using hwy 70. took that on the way up from Mpls once.

I have gone from sudbury back to mpls in one long day, 7:30 - 10:30 PM
I used US 8 which is faster than Hwy 70.

I like Hwy 70 better than US 8 but for no real reason.

hope this helps..

Rte 70 seems the way to go for me.The less traffic the better.Montreal --Minneapolis looks good to go.Any suggestions for Twin Cities area south or west.Merci
