Hey there! Karma Time!

I'm an ALWAYS buying toys... literally children’s toys (I can’t help it, my personality is ENTP).

I especially love BMW Motorcycle toys for obvious reasons... but they are few and far between (as I'm sure many around here knows).

Well, I was in the toy store the other day, and found this:

http://static.flickr.com/29/99952017_d529b78653.jpg

I bought two, one for me... and one for you!

So, one lucky person is going to get themselves a nifty r1150rt toy!

It is 1/12 scale, perfect for a desk.

I feel like it would be better suited for a person who owns an r1150rt themselves (hence posting this in the Oilhead forum). I’ve even been riding around with it in my saddle bag, hoping to run into a friendly RT owner. But considering I’m often the only rider out there period, no luck so far.

Well… lucky for all of you I can’t wait any longer to give it away, so I’m going to open this Karma to anyone and everyone who wants in! And at no cost to you!

I'll do the drawing on Sunday... Hopefully this will make someone's monday a little brighter!

Now, who's in?!

Tell me about it... I've been looking for the RR for a while... but alas... it hasn't been in the cards.

(I did find a giant, 16" long R1200C the other day, go figure...)

I'm not in either, but I've been surprised what's out there for model bikes if you keep your eyes open. I found a super-detailed 1/10 R1100R at a gas station. I also found a 1/18(?) K1200RS and an even smaller Airhead GS in the toy-aisle at a grocery store. I've found some early-1970's Ducatis in what appears to be 1/24, complete with little display cases, at a truck stop. Found a 1/18 C1 at another truck stop.
I've also seen that humongoid 1200C model. Now if they'd just make one that big of some of the other BMWs.

If they do an '85 straight K I might just buy my own icon.
Cheers!

I love the model. Tell me is there a web site on the box or information you can post on purchasing one?

The company that makes this RT model, (and the montuck model) is "New Ray"

http://www.new-ray.com/toys/toys_main.htm

Although, their website only shows a few of their toys. I'm not whether they only do short production runs, or whether their website is severly lacking.

On a side, I'm wicked excited about the RT model, I opened mine last night, and the detail is amazing. (Down to a rear shock that you can't see unless you turn the bike upside down and use a flashlight).

I know that BMW makes the little models themselves (and are available in all their models), but my excitement comes when you discover one on the isle of some 2-bit toy store. :)

zach,

try searching ebay for an RR model, i find S models there all the time, i think occasionally about getting one, but that 12 bucks plus shipping is good for a fillup and water while riding and thats more useful to me :)

(also, not putting my name in on this, should go to a deserving RT owner)

I'm an ESPN (at least during football season) and I'd definitly like to be in (actually I'm an ISTP, but ESPN is funnier even if it's not a real Meyers-Briggs personality type), my R1150RT is even the right color to match the toy.

:thumb Definitly IN! I've been trying to find an RT model for awhile, now. I've built several of the excellent Tamiya 1/12th race bikes....they don't do BMW's though. :dance

Well... the long wait is over.

After an elaborate set up of small pieces of paper, a hat, 3 sticks of dynamite, a crate of smoke grenades (the good kind) and half a ham sandwich... the recipient of the mini r1150rt is:

Eddie!

Phew... well, I don't know if it's TOTALY legal considering it's not for HIM but "HIS WIFE," his name was picked...

sorry to all those who didn't get it... if I find any more cool toys I'll make sure to get two ;)

On a side note: The large R1200C toys we were talking about earlier, I found one in a toy store and I realized something funny. The "Model Kit" that I had purchased of the same bike was the same toy, just not assembled yet!

Seems that those cheap-o's decided that the toy wasn't selling well enough, so they called it a "model" and made me to the manufacturing work.

Brilliant.

No RT for me, but if you happen to see a nice R1150R perhaps in Titan Silver....

When I bought my black '02 R1150R, I also bought from the dealer their OEM BMW model in black. It is very detailed, with moving parts, and even the blue tint little windscreen. It sat on a shelf in my office and bumped over a couple times and bits that came loose that I never tried to fit back on. So I moved it all to a box in the garage for safekeeping, and now noone looks at it. They are $75 new, and I don't believe black is available anymore. I guess they are history (just like the real thing). So if anyone wants it, PM me for price. I swear I kept the original fancy black box, but will have to search.
