I got this fine machine with only 2100 miles on the odometer and I'm concerned about proper breakin. I don't have the owner's manual and wonder if I should be driving it in any particular manner for the first several thousand miles? I have been reading tons on the bike and the popular opinion seems to be that the bike gets stronger and smoother after 6,000 miles.
Your thoughts and opinions are appreciated.
Best,

It's already broke in, hopefully it was broke in well. (First 600 miles below 4000 RPM) that's all there is.
I'd change the oil since you don't how long its been in there. Use the regular stuff until 12,000 then if you want go with the synthetic oil.
Take a good detailed look at your tires and make sure they are not dry rotted. (small cracks in the tread and sidewalls)
Have fun.
After the fluids are warmed up and everythings at operating temps, 'Ride it Like You Stole It'. Don't be afraid to hit the rev-limiter from time to time. ;) But you don't have to ride it like that all the time. :laugh

Gravity:
Like SFDOC says, yours should already be already broken in, but some of them take forever until oil consumption stabilizes, as much as 70,000 km. Keep an eye on your oil consumption for your first riding season.
