Anybody have any experience with the Battery Doc charger. I have a WestCo battery (AGM) in the RT and need a charger. My local dealer now carries Battery Doc but I don't know much about them. Seems like a good package with a BMW plug for about $38. Thanks for any help.

I use automatic chargers on all the bikes all the time when garaged. I like the Battery Doc. IMHO better than the Deltran. However, I had an interesting conversation with a guy who is a motorcycle electrical guru. He suggested the Schumaker (small) charger from (of all places) Wal Mart. Less than $20, and he says it is a true three stage charger. I have two of these now, and they are well built with lots of accessory cords and connectors.
My old Deltran chargers would often "stick" in the charge mode. It was necessary to unplug and replug, and then the green light would illuminate--indicating the maintenance mode was now operating. A nuisance. The Battery Docs just worked correctly. Small, durable case, but expensive. There is also a "waterproof" model for extra bucks, but why would you need one?
The only caveat is if you have a true BMW Gel battery, which has somewhat different charging characteristics than a lead/acid or sealed AGM. You might prefer to use the BMW charger for the BMW Gel battery, especially if it's still under warrantee.

Click on the link below for Deltran Battery Tender and you'll find your answer to why your light was red or green!
Simply, you just didn't need to do all that plug or unplugging! :lurk
I have always used Deltran Battery Products for years and never once had a problem.
IMO they're #1 :thumb :thumb :thumb
I even ran a Battery Tender Junior on a "Gel Cell" consistently for 1 year, and never had a problem.
