We'll, the coast hwy. is still there in Ca. and is just as beautiful as ever. Tuesday was a sunny day and I had to return home from my sailboat that I keep in Monterey Bay. I rode my vintage R100/7, that I purchased new that year and still enjoy very much. I have newer LT, but the old world BMW still brings smiles. Riding south from Monterey, Ca. on Hwy.1 brings one to an exceptional ride of coastal beauty not exceeded by many other locations on the planet. This time of year brings ocean wildlife to the forefront along this route and this day was no exception to that rule. Whales were clearly showing themselves, within a mile of shoreline, seals and dolphins too. Closer to San Simeon, Ca. the Elephant seals had come ashore in large numbers to give birth. They are usually in the area for two months. Anyway, my ride home to Clovis,Ca. is about 200 miles and went well this day, with so much beautiful things to see. Everyone should ride this area at least once in a lifetime. Happy Trails, Randy

Welcome aboard, Randy. Very cool first post. I live south of you and frequently ride that stretch of 1. You describe it as I often find it, a magnificent stretch of rode, worthy of a classic bike like yours.
Share some pictures with us next time; if you don't know how, there's plenty of tutorials and no shortage of onliners willing to help, including myself.

Tom takes a nice picture. You'll notice he's managed to land a few on the picture of the week.
