My wife thinks she wants floorboards for her feet. She loves to ride two-up so how about some help. Where can floorboards be found that will fit the passenger section of a 1991 R100RT and maybe a 1978 R100/7? How much will they dig into the back of my legs?

Thanks
Ray

Floorboards for the passenger can provide a lot of comfort. What's not obvious is that a flat floorboard provides better balance because the passenger can brace through the feet.

When my wife rode with me on the R100 I had some folding floorboards installed. They fit right over the stock rear pegs, fastening to the pivot pin. When not needed, they could be folded up vertical, leaving the rubber pegs. Or both could be folded up.

No, the ones I had were small enough that they didn't interfere with the back of my boots.

Check with a Honda shop. I think these are available as accessories for Gold Wings and others. You might have to adapt some spacers to the pivot pin, or find a longer pin to fit on the BMW pegs.

Somewhere in my boxes of junk---I mean valuable vintage parts--I probably have these boards, which I am not using. You want them?

perhaps try JC whitney? Is it safe to assume you have saddlebags? If so...that might cut down on how much room youve got to play with!

Back when I bought my first BMW bike ('77), Henry's Floorboards were available for the passenger. I think they've been out of production for years, but you might be able to find a used set somewhere, sometime.

You might also try a place like J&P Cycles (www.jpcycles.com) who has alot of parts for HD but also for custom applications.

Aftermarket floorboards were made for the /7 and earlier models for a time in the 70's. It's possible a "wanted" ad on the IBMWRA classified might turn up something. It was something like "Hughs" or Hanks Floorboards.

I appreciate all the responses to the floor board inquiry. A set of floor boards are on there way here. The wife will be happy, I hope.

Thanks again

One of the answers with information to my inquiry also said he had a set of used ones and offered them to me via email. I took the offer.
