heavy handed if you ask me.
Any thread that mentions the situation will result in disagreement (or as i call it conversation),
boot all threads to the doghouse?

Well it had strayed pretty far off-topic and was headed for the sewer.
Remember that we never remove a post, moving one to the doghouse is kinda like a quick reset of a conversation between a group of folks with opposing ideas that is decending into a shouting match.
You can start it right up again (hopefully with a more appropriate subject line) and have at it if you wish.
I split the Thank you Sandy part II thread becuase it the second post was not about Sandy or thanking her at all. I encourage those who feel the need to bash to have at it here (http://www.bmwmoa.org/forum/showthread.php?t=9012)
Let's all agree to try to stay on topic and when the urge strikes start a new thread as you did here. (Thank you)
Best,
Hodag

in the name of all that is holy, if there is a clique and a conspiracy would it please rear its head and throw your ass out?
Yes 6 of the last 7 posts were by officers or the lead moderator trying to bring the topic back on subject. Actually the seventh was informing folks that the thread was headed to the 'house. Imagine if we sent a few participants for a time out, now that would be heavy handed.

Mark,
I think we tried at least a couple times to send the thread back to where it started, as a thread thanking Sandy for her service. Some individuals sought to convert it into a thread that brought up the whole issue for rehashing again. I tried, at least twice, to point folks to the Media Editor thread, without any luck.
I'm really hoping that we can keep those two discussions separate. As we've all said, feel free to ask any questions about the plan, but please do it in the Media Editor thread, not a thread that should be a public recognition of a job well done.
Thanks to everyone for this small modicum of consideration.
Dave

I still say that someone saw one of the BOD on the grassy knowl through the whole affair...hehehehe. Now can we have a black helicopter smiley...please?...lol. It is amazing how much guff the members can give the BOD, and all for only $32...where else can you get that kind of value... :laugh

heck, i'd volunteer for a time out to stop those threads from devolving to the depths that they do.

It wasn't until the 18th post that Kbasa jumped in to try to slow down the train. By then we had the engine jumping the tracks, and me in the caboose well I spilled my drink.
I just think that if a thread is going to be booted to the doghouse it should be for a "serious" offense. off topic banter?? no
I see this issue being difficult to keep seperate from the Sandy thanks and an ME discussion. Sandy leaving is a direct result of the ME deal.
example
"Thank you Sandy, you'll be missed" bill
"Darn right she will, thanks Sandy" Joe
"My issue already came late never had that happen before, I miss her" Francis
"Please say thank you and nothing else" voice of James Earl Jones

Not trying to stiffle discussion, even though this particular subject has had more than a few posts. :rolleyes The point is to give those who want to thank Sandy the chance to do so without having it disrupted by posts which already have an active thread. This is really no different than moving a thread in a bike tech forum about gear to the gear forum. With one exception: it was already getting ugly, and we already have a good supply of that on this subject. If you want to hang the BoD members or me, I just want the popcorn concession. :lurk

No hanging required,
just making flippant comments in my odd often misunderstood manner.

For the cranky or the flu?

Hope you fell better Mr. President.
