Let's all reflect back on a very great man that had the courage and tenacity to pursue a vision that most thought was foolish or unachievable.
Martin Luther King, Jr, you were a great man and the world is poorer for your untimely death.

What he stood for and acheived in his short life, is just as relevant today as it was almost 40 years ago.

I was in eighth grade when it happened, a shop teacher disagreed with me.
I flunked that grading period. The only F I ever got.
Time has proved which one of us was wrong!

More specifics please! It always disturbs me when a teacher gets a bad rap with no explanation. Are you saying that a teacher gave you an F because he disagreed with you about what? When what happened, MLK's birth, 15 January, 1929 (celebrated today) or his death 4 April 1968?

Your right about MLK jr and it's too bad a lot of the "new leadership" can't get on the same "I HAVE A DREAM" bandwagon instead of the "i have a scheme".

It was on the occasion of his murder that the exchange happened. Most of the class also followed with the teacher's example.

1968 was a different time than now. There were riots in the Cleveland innercity the year before and Cleveland had elected the first black Mayor of a major American city, Carl Stokes, items that did not sit well in some quarters.

I don't endorse what happened, but it did. I have moved on and I am sure (I hope) most of the others have too. I don't claim to have been a great student but I did better than an F.

Now that is a little heavy, how about those Steelers!
