Last year, my friend Tom and I started what we hope will be a long annual tradition, the January first ride to a new place in the Hill Country.
Last year we rode through Albert, Texas, founded by Mr. Luckenbach himself. Peak population was 50, back in 1925.
This year we aimed a little more North-Westerly.
It was pretty cloudy/foggy when I left my house, with a temperature around 60.

I picked Tom up at his house. Roadtrip the cat wished us well.

We rode to the Fredericksburg Airport Diner for one of their wonderful breakfasts.

According to their hours, they were supposed to be open. :violin

So we popped into Denny’s for a quick bite.

An hour and a half later, we had to redefine “quick bite.” :banghead
On our way out Bear Creek road we saw an interesting house—looked like something out of American Gothic, and it appeared to be made out of cinderblock.

A nice Texas Bed & Breakfast out in the middle of nowhere. By this time, the temperatures are around 75. This is winter? I hope it doesn’t mean a summer of 105 degrees.

I came home via Bandera Pass, used by the Indians (can I say that?) back before we came. (And for a while after, too.)

There was a beautiful sun-dog over the studio as I arrived home.

Ahhhh.
