Hey, all;

I've had a Suzuki GS850 for many years, and just two months ago found the bike of my dreams on Ebay: a 1992 K75RT, 70K miles on the clock. While I feel capable of doing some of my own maintenance on the bike, and I made sure I got the Haynes book the week I brought the bike home from New Hampshire, I know there are going to be times when I need to have someone with more knowledge, more experience, better tools -- and more hands than one person has -- look at the bike.

So -- where do you take your bike when it needs service beyond what you can do yourself? Does it need to be a BMW dealer, or are there non-dealer repair shops that understand the bikes we love?

I live in the Toms River area. Forked River to be exact. I drive my bike about an hour to Cherry Hill to have it service by DeSimone BMW. www.cherryhillbmw.com

Good group over there. Bought the bike in Ledgewood, NJ at Garden State BMW. They have since gone out of business. There is Cross Country BMW in Metuchen. www.ccbmw.com
Emols Cycles used to do work on BMWs. Don't know for sure if they still do. There are a couple of other places in Jersey. Also a lot of complaint for lack of places. North Jersey....where all the better roads are have little option. Metuchen or Manhatten. I think there is a place in Phillipsburg. I am partial to the guys over at Cherry Hill. Always nice. Dumped the bike once right down the road from the dealership...called them, they came and got me and had me back on the road within two weeks in the middle of their peak season. They will also pick up and return the bike within I believe 50 miles for service.

Hope that helps.

There's one in Phillipsburg which is on the border of NJ across the river from Easton, PA if you live in the northwestern part of NJ. Route 32 down the west side of the Delaware river from Easton to New Hope/Lambertville is a real pretty road if you want to take a ride after you visit that dealer.

I live *in* Metuchen -- I'm lucky enough to have a BMW dealer within walking distance! But I know from previous experience with other bikes that the closest shop might not be the best.

Does anyone have a favorite shop? Horror stories to tell?

(And if you'd rather not share stories in public, you can always send a private note.)

Really like CHerry Hill. They are a good crew.

Cross Country BMW in Metuchen did a fine job replacing the input splines on my transmission, and dealing with BMWNA.

So, now they are my dealer of choice for service (I live in northern NJ, about 35 miles from CCBMW).
