I've wanted this bike ever since my friend found it a couple of years ago, and he finally sold it to me today. My own junior touring bike to hang next to the K1200LT. Thanks Don!!

Looks nice and clean, is that a stock seat? I don't remember seeing the front climb up the tank like that before.

Nice one. It was a bike exactly like that one that got me on the road to modern Beemers. I'd owned my R60/5 for about 8 years and loved it. I was on the road and missed it a lot, so I took the opportunity when I was in Phoenix to rent an R80RT just like that. It was all over. 4 beemers later, and I'm STILL looking!
So do I judge from your sig you're back from Monza?

Its actually a Corbin. The seller threw in a stock seat too, but the seat pan needs some rust touch-up first.
And yes, we're back from Italy. :dance

Nice catch, Jon! Really reminds me of my monolever R80 with an S fairing. That was a great bike; I put close to 100k miles on it. I hope you and Sue really enjoy it!
Oh, and welcome back!

Sue says its an "old man's" bike, which means she won't be caught dead on it. :D
Oh, and welcome back!
Thanks! You can still come and visit, even though we don't live anywhere remotely scenic or interesting. You'll notice from the pic that we don't have any snow tho. :dunno
You are a very lucky fellow! Enjoy the bike, it looks sharp.

Ahh....schweeeeet bike! Is that an '84 like mine??

Your '84 doesn't have single-side swingarm with rear wheel attached by lug bolts.
Your '84 has rounded front fender and 19-in front wheel--this bike has square-edge front fender and 18-in front wheel.
Your '84 never had mufflers shaped like these.
Your '84 cannot mount a BMW trunk.

However, I'm thinking of going to the MOA rally this summer... Chicago could be on the way there...

That's a miserable trip from California, but by all means stop over on your way out. I don't know our plans for the summer yet (shoot, or even next week, for that matter!), so maybe I'll ride with you.

Very nice indeed. The bike I wanted in the 80's while teaching MSF, after I got over my love affair with the K75S. It does look like my '87 R65. Wish I had those dual slotted disks. Just when I'm ready to sell everything and buy a hexhead or new K bike I see one of these old beauties and wish I had one! But, maybe a K1100LT - I'm feeling evil!

Very sharp. I like the color and the rear trunk fits the bike nicely. Good find.

And... you're going to need R100 cylinders. ;)

Then someone else told me I should try Canada 17... It might not be too bad.

Gorgeous weekend indeed. Four of us rode our RT's up to New Glarus :eat on Saturday, then performed a mission of mercy......we delivered a six pack of New Glarus's finest, Spotted Cow, to Danny, parts maven @ Cyclewerks. :drink Totaled just a few shy of 300 miles for the day ...not bad. Rode over to your house then locally Sunday on the GS for about another 70. Today, I took the GS up to Cyclewerks to have a few things checked out....another 40. So, first week of January and I got 400 plus miles in on 2 of the 3 bikes...not bad for January in Chicago. :dance

that looks just like my first BMW when new, now it has an parabellum scout, S bars and epco stainless exhaust and well over 100k miles on it, and it is still my favorite commuter bike, running Avon Roadrunners on it...

Very nice looking bike.
I just loved the "old man" comment. I got a coup[le comments like that back when the K bikes were still kinda new and I had an older R100 with a windjammer fairing. Yep they could leave me behind on the straights but as soon as there were any curves I was having to slow down to keep from running over them. I didn't hear any more "old man" bike comments after that.
To me the airheads have the most "character" of the brand and I still miss my last one at times while riding the K75 I have now.

Verrry nice. I had a '93 R100RT. It had "issues" but I really liked it when it ran properly. The RT fairing was great for winter riding, incredible coverage. Congrats, yours looks good in red.
