In hockey...the Canadian Junior team just defeated the Russians in the international tournament, having defeated USA and everybody else.
These young men fought like lions.

Aye I hear ya Brooksie.
It was the IIHF tournament, almost 5 weeks long.
We hosted the team from Norway here, for their pre tournament training.
Young men with great heart.
Careful of that protective colouration...Lobstahs turn red in the sun. :buds

It was one of the best games I've seen this year, even compared to the new, fast, NHL.

When the game ended, I was surprised at how sad the Russians were at the loss, until I remembered their deeply imbedded attachment to the Rodina, the motherland, and their sense of duty to defend it. It was quite touching.

It was a pretty good tournament over all. I was surprised that it came with my NHL package on Comcast. Another reason I like it better then DirecTV.

It was a FANTASTIC game!!
Today's juniors are tomorrow's NHLers.

If we can't see where we are going, how will we know whether we got there?

Is this the wrong time to bring up the Newfie joke about hockey night that I heard?

You're all correct. It is!

Congrats to the young lads, can't wait to see 'em all in the NHL soon.

Irene

I think most of the lads are already signed up.

And no time is the wrong time for a Newfie joke.

That is great. I went on Christmas day last year to the World Jr's in Grand Forks ND. Saw Canada play Slovakia, of course Canada won.

However, I saw USA beat Russia that day as well. Wow! That was fun hockey.

USA got beat out eventually. But is was a thrill to see them play Russia.

I am an old gray dog and remember the "Miracle of 1980" when USA beat Russia in the Olympics. Watched it on a black and white TV at my college apartment. A few the players if I remember correctly were from Univeristy of North Dakota. I remember some of them being there for the training anyway.

Good deal for Canada. Now if they could just build roads without potholes. :stick
