Well, another New Year's Day Ride is in the books. Maybe not much of one
but it is done.

A few of us had the bright idea to meet for coffee at Peet's. For one, an
hour's ride. For me, 20 minutes tops.

It was just starting to rain when I left home. No worries. All the gear.
As I got on the freeway, the wind started to pick up and I decided that I'd
be better off on the city streets given the crap that was flying across the
road (never mind I was getting blown all over the place).

Made it to Peet's just after 9 and as I stood in line for my coffee, I made
my own little puddle everywhere I stood :D

Having resigned myself to being the only one foolish enough to be out riding
today, I took my seat outside in the lee of the building with my coffee and
pumpkin scone.

Along comes Sean on his GSA. As we talked, the wind picked up.
Several anxious glances at the bikes reveal they are still standing (I'd guess
the wind speed to be gusting to 30-35mph or so).

Coffee and lots of chatter later, we decided to head out given the break in
the weather.

For me, the ride home was pretty dry. Windy but dry. However, back on
the city streets, a different story. Lots of lights out or malfunctioning. So
many people have no f'n clue what to do when the signal lights are out...

Happy New Year to you all and I hope you were able to start the new year
with a ride.

Peets Coffee rocks... I have it shipped out here to BFE, Virginia. Life's too short to drink cheap coffee.

Sounds like an interesting ride there&back again! Happy new Year

Bleah. It's been pretty messy up here, so Tina and I went for a ride in the truck.

There are trees down, mud all over the roads (6" deep in a couple spots!) and just general mayhem.

I'm home to read the NYT and have a couple beers now, I think.

I spent an hour today taking the four bolts off my license plate to finally remove the dealer installed frame and to put on the '06 decal. Then I went to Burger King. Weather was really nice in Southeast Virginia today. HAPPY NEW YEAR! to you all.

I sent the ex some e-mail today. She lives in San Anselmo and I sure hope all is well cause it's in one of those areas you could just feel was going to slide
at some point. I guess the good news is that the creek is below her house.

Thanks for checking in. I was wondering if you guys were home from the
spa weekend and if so, that everything was ok.

I actually went into the garage today and opened all of the doors to it. Started up the motorcycle for a few minutes and pretended to ride.

Might be the vicodin making me stir crazier.

The weather turned out to be most excellent for early January in Columbus, Ohio. Some sun and temperatures in the 30s and 40s for most of the day. Rain earlier in the week had washed the salt off the road and all of the snow and ice from earlier in December was gone.

The turnout was pretty good for the New Year's Day ride hosted by BMW of Columbus.

We had a nice ride around the lake and out to Kernville for breakfast. After riding over the top and back down to Glenville we stopped at the Mountain Market and chatted with some buddies. Then I began to notice drops on my saddlebags. . . . Rained hard all the way home, but we made it safe and sound. A great, albeit wet, New Year's ride.

Your California weather has been making the news up here in the Great White North.
Calgary's been nice and dry; 45 above yesterday, and the bikes were out.

Went to Original Joe's for a pint of Blonde, but we took the Audi.

You have to be prepared up here.

Happy New Year everybody.
