my favorite this year is sufjan stevens - (come on feel the) illinoise.

regarding your list above, i had a gogol bordello cd a couple of years ago and didn't really like it, but i've seen them play 3 or 4 times and they really put on a good show. i forget the singer's name but his mustache alone is worth the price of admission...

(Come on feel the) Illinoise is a great album! I like Michigan a little better, but let's say Illinoise would be 11 on my Top 11 ;)

I do. Most anything older than 1980.

Gee, I should hope not! I love Country, specifically 1950s Honky Tonk: Ernest Tubbs, Lefty Frizzell and the great one, Hank Sr. Unfortunately none of these gents qualify for a 2005 release, but heck if I haven't worn an iTunes groove in the Waltz Across Texas anthology this year!

This is hard to decide, is the question the best music released in 2005 or the best music I listened to in 2005? What about reissues? I have been trying to come up with a list and it is hard!

LOL... ok, Brad (and everyone), just do like Ben and Mark did; write about the music that really rocked your boat last year; list or non-list-format. Music—it's all good, no matter the style or flavor :)
