My wife and I are planning to ride two up from Cleveland, OH to the ralley. We want to camp, but don't want to carry camping equipment. Any recommendations for a vendor that will rent and ship to the rally site. I found a site on the internet, called "Lower Gear", http://www.lowergear.com/producthome.php , that looks pretty good. Any suggestions or experiences will be appreciated.

Hey there, # 149, why not check out Mr. Sherpa (http://www.sherpamayberry.com/) at his website. He's the gent that supplies tents and camping gear at rallies and appears to have done a very nice job last July in Lima. He sets up everything for his clients before they arrive and takes everything down after the rally. His website will be accepting reservations for Burlington 2006 soon. Give 'im a look.
Maybe some of his 2005 BMW rally customers will chime in here on the Forum and give you some personal anecdotes on the rental service.
Good luck!` ` ` :thumb

I used Mayberry's Sherpa Service at Lima and also at the RA rally in Shelbyville, TN. I'd recommend him without reservation. In addition to the tent, air matress, sleeping bag and chair, all set up and ready for you, Ted provides iced community coolers for your beverages (nice in the 98° weather in Lima), morning coffee and an evening campfire. And, when you are ready to pull out, you just pull out. No need to decamp and pack the gear. I think I paid $60 for the service (a single).

Hey SlashFive\

I am putting together a master list of things to see and do at the rally. Your suggestion is a great one! Thank You! I also credited you.

Never heard of their service but it is a great idea.

Thanks Again :thumb

The folks at Lima with the Sherpa group appeared to me to be having fun- AND they were darned convenient to the shower trailers!

Another option is to ship your own camping gear to the rally site, and pick it up when you get there. At a later date we will post the correct address to ship these kinds of things. You can ship it home Sunday morning thru the onsite UPS vendor, who will be open on Sunday morning.

Thanks for the chime-ins, John and iRENE. . .many hands make light work. ;)
(I wonder if Mr. Sherpa will give us a discount for these 'testimonials.' (??)

Hiya folks. Yes, indeed, I fully plan on being at Vermont this year. I'll open up reservations from my site (http://www.sherpamayberry.com) as soon as I receive and return the vendor package (supposed to be later this week or early next week). I hate to take reservations until I'm an official vendor.

Really appreciate the testimonials, but I just can't offer discounts just yet. This will be my third year and I've lost a lot of money the first two years (third year looks good though!).

Feel free to drop me a line at my email address (or PM, but email will reach me faster) if you have any questions for me. I'll also respond to questions in this thread.

Thanks for the offer, but we will have a Receiving Committee on site to accept and sort incoming packages and gear for the Rally. As Josh mentioned the shipping address will be posted to the web pages and printed in the ON. We will also have a shipper on site to send your Rally purchases back home instead of trying to fit them on your bike.
