I have never gotten so much aout of ANY bolt on! My Akrapovic can show up, I put it on in under 10 min. and wow. Sounds great, like a big block with a huge cam. Revs like crazy. Pulls the front wheel up and lights the rear like I have not believed could happen with any BMW.
Put a lot of stuff on all kinds of motors and haven't seen this much from anything. It sure shows that the boys could bring more power from the factory with just flow.
Gotta go see if I will feather in the first few twisties.

some links, some pictures, and some further clarification would make this thread much more useful.

Scott - can we assume you're talking about: http://www.akrapovic-ai.si/main/catalog/products-catalog.htm ??
Got any dyno plots to share? I see ones on their website where a 7HP increase at ~8k is claimed. The overall plot looks very nice, but I'd like to see a back-to-back independent dyno run (if you are anywhere near the NJ area, I can offer that for free..)
The only K bike one they list sounds like it wouldn't exactly be street legal.. (actually - in their detailed notes on it they specify that it isn't street legal.. kinda wonder if it would be track legal with no silencer in it.)
It makes no mention of a catalytic coverter - so can we assume it doesn't contain one?

Sorry guys, just got it on Saturday night and flogged it all day yesterday.
I have no sound, photos or dyno (yet), but this is not your grannies pipe! Tone is low and subdued at idle...sounds like a BIG block with a big cam. With fuel it is a good deal louder than the stock mess; again low and aggressive. I do not like loud pipes. These produce more sound and I am glad they do.
I heard a full Ti Remus at my dealer and I wouldn't trade for anything. Bland comes to mind.
Power needs no dyno! Quicker response, unbelievable torque. One must now exercise prudence twisting the wick for it will break loose every time.
Buddy of mine has a 9 second busa and he just pulled me around the end of a quarter. 170 shows up much quicker, acceleration slows a bit after 155. I hopped on the local interstate and was at 170 without the labor needed before. My favorite twisties now have a decisive "tail out" form at will.
I am waiting on the AFE filters and additional information about fueling modifications before taking her to the dyno in Tulsa. Filters should be here in 2-3 weeks. Hopefully the ECU debate and possible means to an end will solidify allowing a tune at that point.
I have modified every vehicle I have ever owned and no single item has exceeded expectations like this piece. Poor or stock exhaust have limited yields, with the best additions seeming to provide support not working to much benefit when used alone. This thing is great!
If you dig deep enough you will find existing exhaust comparison dynos numerically reinforce my claims. There are some sounds there as well but I can't buy a pipe based on tonal quality of dell speakers.
When I have more empirical post, you'll get them. Until then I may have to giggle and write now and then.
