Not sure what the appropriate etiquette is for cross-posting trip reports from other sites, but here is a link to my Newfoundland trip report report over on AdvRider....

Great story, thanks.

When I rode to Nova Scotia a few years back, I camped at Meat Cove on the very northern tip and spent a day staring at the ocean... wishing that I had planned more time to take the ferry to Newfoundland.

In reading your report, it was cool that another ADVrider in the area flagged you down on the fly. To me, that's what this medium is all about.

Thanks again for posting, Byron.

LECFLAGLER - Great report and thanks for sharing. Sounded like an awesome ride and experience. Did you ever get that tire fixed?

Naw, just had it replaced. I'm sure that my plug kit would have taken care of the problem but I didn't have the patience to figure out where the hole was. Took the tech at the dealer almost 20 minutes just to find the damn hole.

Introduced myself to him in Lima. Haven't seen him other than that however. Still trying to get myself hooked up with those guys for an afternoon at Peggy Sue's or Growler's. Guess it'll have to wait until Spring.

I've had several people tell me the Meat Cove is inaccesible on a bike. Non-rider types who obviously have no appreciation of just what a really determined rider can accomplish.

How is the road down to Meat Cove? Easy, not so easy?

Sit at the edge and listen......... mmmm..... a place where God and eagles dwell.

Byron, thanks for sharing your incredible trip. I was in NewFoundland for three days and have been dreaming of going back.

Next summer . . .

Did you make reservations or find places to stay as you went along?

I had heard about the crush of tourists that descend on Newfoundland in early July, so I made reservations for most of my stops. Baie Verte and Clarenville were the only reservations I didn't make ahead of time.

Thing is, there didn't seem to be that many tourists on the island. Maybe later in the year?

Great stuff, Byron.

I hope to do something similar this summer. Should be more to share it with because of Burlington. Your report was excellent. Some day I'll try to put a ride report together as well as that one.

Hope all else is well. See ya in VT?

Doug

Oh, chr*st... I had forgotten all about that! :hungover
How many times did you say that? 20?

Good times, my friend, good times.
