Has anyone experienced excessive valve clatter on their K1200GT or RS?
My 2003 GT has 9000 miles and runs great other than constant valve clatter when engine is operating under normal loads at all engine RPM. Annual service was performed last February at 6000 miles. I read somewhere that valve clearance must be set only when engine is stone cold.

The valve clearances stay pretty stable, and the first valve clearance check isn't until 12K IIRC. Have you checked the torque on the exhaust header nuts, or the centerstand mount? That's the stuff I would look at first, especially the exh header nuts.

What he said. Not to be rude, but are you sure it's valve clatter? I've had a lot of K-bikes and that is not normal.

My RS is a "Box of Rocks", some are, some aren't.
Rumors have it to dissapear sometimes, at over 60K.
Or, over 90K
Or over.............
Go to K-Bikes.com and do a search on "box of rocks"
