Why are most thread titles bold...are the posters selecting that formatting when they start it?

I never selected it. But, it's good. On another forum they're not and I don't see them.

They are assigned to be bold in the forum settings.

I thought thread titles with bold type were simply those that had changed since the last time I accessed the webpage. I will have to have another look, then.
