My K is in the shop getting new front and rear master cylinders right now. But looking at this photo suggests to me that there may be some benefit to other approaches. I would think that locking up the rear would be much less of a problems using the technique demonstrated here. Perhaps in the future we should refer to this sort of approach to maintenance as the "Roman solution".

Very common. BMW put the resevoir up under the battery side panel later. Out of the sun. You can get the round container, clip, screw and slightly longer hose at any dealer to upgrade.
