Call me crazy, but I wouldn't be crossing double yellow lines on these roads. Do you agree?

I was out there in May. My squid ride ended when I caught up with the first car. Glad their bike angle is fast and agil.

I was very lucky doing a stupid move on IN135, and my days of passing like that are long gone.

That kinda looked like me and someone I won't name on Hwy 1 recently. I'm sure those guys could see farther than the camera could making those passes, but then again I still do some pretty hairy stuff on a bike. I liked the sound effects of the RS but he was pretty inexpierienced sounding. JMHO.

Gale you know who and which road... :brow

It's funny watching the turns while hearing the throttle and gearing as it gives you a contrast of how you would ride those turns. Wasn't always smooth, but who am I to judge.

I have ridden north of San Fran. While your perspective is a bit scewed with the camera they had no where near the range change you would think. I'm no squid, perhaps not even a 7 tenths guy anymore but these guys are fargin nuts...aint it great we get to watch on film! :bolt

Sounded better than my ride.

I have no idea who or what you're talking about. :ha

I agree, it's hard to judge the sight-lines from that position on the bike. So how risky those passes were we can't know. It is interesting how the rider out front looks to have chosen decent lines that used most of the available road while the pilot on the camera equipped bike seemed to avoid the right edge a bit too much. This less smooth more frigid riding also appears to be more prevalent after he passed the car.

I want a camera on my bike. :nod
It would be fun to review the footage... and never ever let it out on the internet! :bolt

Great video - like going for a ride over my coffee this morning.

Looks like a fun ride. I am terrified of cops these days - they must have s switch attached to my R1 that alerts them I am in the area. Good riding considering the clunky bikes these guys were riding. I agree, the pass looked a bit hoonish (of the cars) but I couldn't see what they could actually see on the ground. Passing the cruisers looked fun.

Nice to watch as I get ready to head out this morning for an airhead rally in Oklahoma.
I'm wary of crossing double-yellows (not that I haven't done it), and in fact I try to remember not to lean the upper parts of bike & body across the centerline. It just takes one big ol' truck in a blind curve...

People say a dual purpose bike can't do both purposes well, but that fully loaded GS doesn't seem to be lacking anything out there.

BIKE magazine UK recently named the GS the 5th best cornering bike in its "50 best bikes to take the corners with" article, although it gave top honors to a buel??? 2-4 were predictable (aprillias, hondas, etc.........) it also placed the new RT somewhere in the teens............

Ah yes, our North Carolina twisties are so much fun for 2 wheelers! Deal's Gap is a nice road if you ignore the bike parts that seem to litter the sides of the road--make sure you can judge corners and know your limits.

The Cherohala Skyway, just south of the Dragon, is another nice, twisty mountain road with less tourists, less squids, and less cops.

Speaking of cops, I have just heard that the Feds on the Blue Ridge Parkway have instituted a new campaign to strictly enforce the speed limits and other traffic laws that would include hefty 3-digit fines for minor speeding or other road transgressions. They are out to control a lot of the sport riders that use the Parkway. Unfortunately, this type of plan could appeal to the NC Highway Patrol and the local police-types and many of us down here fear that they could soon use the same tactics for their "revenue enhancement programs". :deal

Come on down and enjoy our roads, but beware of the Smokeys! Barney Fife still exists in some corners of this area.

Cops are the reason I go to track day at least once a month.

I need a camera. I'd love to have shot video of our run last Saturday from the coast up to Leggett on 1.

I wish you all had come up sooner. It would have been nice to ride up with you, to see the 2-up RT barge dance.

Ask Burnszilla. He had a front row seat for the entire performance. If I was smarter, I would have let him lead. :hide
