After riding for hours in the rain, went to slow down only to find that the servo assist was not working, and only had "residual" braking. The Brake light was flashing when I brought it to a stop and checked the console. I hit both brakes several times, and the light went out, and the brakes returned to normal.
Has anyone else had this. I'd hate to have it happen as I went into a corner a little hot. Sort of shakes you up.

My first guess would be one of the brake switches stayed on. If this happens, I think the servo would time out but maybe a fault would register since the bike is rolling to warn you that there is an issue. Operating both brakes would maybe clear the microswitch sticking.
Wild guess...but by a somewhat informed person...

I have fortunately not experienced residual brakes to date, but it is my understanding that they usually only occur due to voltage drop in your battery. How old is your battery? You might be due. BMWNA sent a letter to all servo assisted ABS and offered everyone a brake test for free. I would take them up on your offer and go to your nearest dealer today, and let them know you experienced a failure. They will likely see the failure on the computer when they check.
