Another question regarding fairings...
If I end up going with a Parabellum Scout fairing (or other fairing with paintable surface area) I have considered changing the color of the entire bike.
How much does this affect the resale value of the bike? It is a 1996 R1100R and is currently Ascot Green. I would prefer to go to either charcoal or black, and would use a stock BMW color.

SHUNK, a 96 R1100R? I wouldn't even worry about it.
I think the Scout looks sweet on the naked R bikes - really transforms them in a very cool, retro sort of way (as does a Hannigan). A fresh spray job, especially in a class color like charcoal or black would be stylin'.
The heck with resale value. You'll have something unique, and if you do decide to sell you can bet it will catch someone's eye.
Have you considered smoke gray, as in a '77 R90S? Someone posted a pic on the bmwsporttouring.com site a while back of their older R1100RS sprayed smoke gray and it was just stunning.

PS; post a pic when it's done.

Once I get it done, people around here will probably get sick of seeing the picture! :clap

I'm voting with the alien on this one.
With the exception of the iconic burnt orange R90S, I can't think of any BMWS that have a paint-specific identity. My opinion only but as long as you stick within the family of stock BMW colors and the paint is well applied there shouldn't be any re-sale issues.
A note about getting too "custom" with the color choices. I once got some painted parts for an R75/6 incredibly cheap because somebody had done them up in a shade of pink that was remarkably close to pepto-bismol.

Just in case, I would make plenty of (digital) pictures of the bike before/during the painting. I'm always suspicious when people offer something for sale that's advertised as "freshly painted". If you can show a potential buyer that it wasn't a rusty heap to begin with, that would help IMHO. Then again, there was a '95 R1100R for sale on eBay a month ago that was in pretty poor state and still sold for $3.5k. So alien_hitchhiker is probably right that it'll not change much. Good luck!

PS Mine is graphite metallic and I love it.

HIJACK - I saw the Hannigan on a R1100R at the RA rally. That is one sweet ride! Hides the oil coolers well. Only gripe is I would rather have it on a 6 speed, dual spark. And buying a used R1100RT would probably be cheaper than getting a new Hannigan and a used R1100R.

IF you can get one new...are they still making them?

From green to black? Seems like an improvement to me. I like the idea of having a good set of before pics for reasons mentioned.

Here's the factory photo of a black one (one of my former rides, too).

Where did you find the S fairing for your bike? I really like the way it looks and (while I don't want to copy it) may be interested in pursuing a fairing similar to yours.

Wudo of Germany. Formerly imported by Cascade BMW. Don't know where to get them now. You can also try a Parabellum Scout (http://www.parabellum.com/stores/showdetl.cfm?&DID=22&ObjectGroup_ID=4&Product_ID=35&CatID=1)
