After 35 years of riding Japanese dirt, enduro, and cruisers, my wife and I purchased an '03 LT. We just finished an 8,000 mile tour of the this great county on it (this was our first REAL tour on the LT). We rode in wind, rain, heat, on every surface, etc. The bike performed flawlessly. The seat warmers and rear armrests kept Mama very happy. We used luggage liners (a must for the wife). We have XM sat and procomm audio in our helmets. Never had a more complete riding experience.

We started out the run in Central California with Bridgestone tires. In Pennsylvania we had the bike serviced and switched to Metzler 880's. I was astounded has to how much more stable (especially in cross winds) the bike was. Along the way we met a lot of folks, several Kbike riders, they all hate the Bridgestone tires. After 5,000 miles on The Metzlers, the tires look nearly new. No doubt what we will continue to use.

My favorite riding area was the Adirondiaks (spelling) of New York! Imagine riding through TWISTY, COLORED, TREE TUNNELS hour after hour... Watch out for the deer and moose...

Next year, the Florida Keys... do gators cross the road?

You'll like the Keys if you're here early in the year, as in April/May, :dance later than that and the heat is on. :hungover
I have lived here for over 15 years and I get out in July,August and Sept.
I am glad you like the LT as it is a wonderful tour bike. I did 12K to Alaska on mine this past summer and needed only a new front Metz. The 880's gave me a scare last year on my RT and I won't use them ever again. I hope you have many safe, enjoyable miles on your LT :thumb :thumb

Ps: Gators do cross the roads! :D

I too have made the right descision. My wife and I were thinking about buying a new R1200RT but we were also open to the K1200LT. I test rode both the Lt and RT. For one up riding the Rt was a blast but I did not like it two up. We then took the LT out and fell inlove with it. I have owned for about 4 weeks and have put about 2000 miles so far. Looking forward to the spring and some fall riding. :p

What was the scare with the 880's?
